Many thanks to Janet for setting up this method of learning about new/different books, authors and genre. I'm looking forward to reading about what others are reading and thier opinions (if shared) on the material. It's an exciting way to expand the reach of the library beyond the confnes of the building itself. Hurray.....

I hope this can be a format where we can talk about the books we are reading and make suggestions. To contact the library or me, please visit the Shenandoah Public Library website for our catalog and other cool links.

I just finished Karin Slaughter's Blindsighted. It was a little more hard-core than my usual fare, but I liked it a lot. The cover compares her to Thomas Harris and Patricia Cornwell. The main character is a small town pediatrician and coroner and this is a particularly grisly case. Adding interest is the fact that the chief of police is her ex-husband. It was very engrossing and hard to put down.

I just finished another awesome book by Sarah Dessen called Just Listen. She is fast becoming one of my favorite authors. I have loved all of her books so far. Just Listen is about a girl named Annabel who is a model. Everyone believes she has the perfect life but it is only an illusion. At the end of school she and her best friend Sophie had a huge fight and Annabel cut herself off from everyone. Now she has no friends and no life outside of modeling. How can Annabel turn her life around? Does she have the courage to change things?

I love to read! When I started working at the library, my mother (a former school librarian, who retired and became a public librarian) said I had been training for the job my whole life. Not only do I love to read, I love to share books with others--I am so pleased when I can help someone find a book they enjoy.
