The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst is an adorable cozy fantasy that follows Keila, a librarian who has to escape from a violent revolution and hide as many illegal spellbooks as she can. She hides on the island Caltrey, thinking she can keep to herself, but soon learns that the community is very tight-knit and pays attention to their neighbors. They are also struggling. So, Keila starts an illegal spellshop to help her new neighbors and just hopes that she can fly under the radar enough to not get caught by any authorities.This is a wonderful, character-driven, low-stakes cozy fantasy that is perfect for fans of Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree or Violet Thistlewaite is Not a Villain Anymore by Emily Krempholtz.
