What You Wish For by Katherine Center introduces Samantha Casey the free spirited school librarian at the Kempner School in Galveston, Texas.  Her mentor and the school's founder and principal has just died.  Everyone is in shock when a new principal is brought in.  Sam knows Duncan Carpenter from her former job, but this man is not the Duncan Carpenter she remembers.  What has happened to Duncan in the past four years and what is he doing to her beloved school?

Burying the Lede by Joseph LeValley is the first in a mystery series introducing newspaper reporter Tony Harrington.  Tony works for the Town Crier in Orney, Iowa.  There has been a horrific double homicide and Tony is covering the trial for the man accused of killing the young couple in their rural farmhouse.  The longer the trial goes on the more Tony is convinced they have the wrong man.  But who would benefit from the deaths of this couple?

The Lost City of Z: a tale of deadly obsession in the Amazon by David Grann introduces Col. Percy Fawcett a British explorer who after hearing tales of an advanced civilization hidden deep in the Amazon rain forest mounts several attempts to locate this city he calls Z.  On his final expedition he and his son and a friend disappear in 1925 never to be heard from again.  Since that time many have looked for them without success.  Reporter David Grann follows Fawcett's trail researching the man, the myth and the area looking for what has kept people fascinated by this story for almost a century.

Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourn is about 4 women hired and trained as assassins in 1979.  They are all now 60 and ready for retirement.  Their employer gives the women a Caribbean cruise as a retirement gift only while on board the friends realize that someone is trying to kill them.  Why would their employer want to eliminate them?  Never underestimate the gray haired crowd as the women plan to fight back and find out what is going on before someone gets to them!

Remarkably Bright Creature by Shelby Van Pelt is a story of loss and loneliness and learning to appreciate what is right in front of you.  Tova Sullivan lost her son Erik thirty years ago.  She now works at a local aquarium cleaning the facility at night.  After befriending the Giant Pacific Octopus Marcellus, she slips and falls breaking her foot at work.  While she is laid up a young man named Cameron comes to town looking for his father.  The two strike up an unlikely friendship but Marcellus knows there is more to the story than either Tova or Cameron realize.
