Good Time Coming by C.S. Harris is set in Louisiana along the Mississippi River during the Civil War.  Eleven-year-old Amrie and her mother are just trying to survive the awful war as they are constantly having their farm invaded by raiding parties.  Amrie's mother is the defacto doctor for the area while her husband is off fighting.  Amrie knows there is a traitor in their area and some think it might be her mother.

The Luster of Lost Things by Sophie Chen Keller  is about 12-year-old Walter Lavender Jr.  He and his mom Lucy run a bakery in New York City.  When their book is stolen Walter sets out with his golden retriever Milton to recover the lost book and save the bakery.  Along the way he meets an eclectic group of people and realizes that he is in danger of being lost himself if he doesn't get out of his comfort zone.

New Mercies by Sandra Dallas is set in Natchez, Mississippi during the 1930s.  Nora Bondurant has just been notified that she has inherited a house called Avoca from an aunt she never knew.  Now she is on her way there to find out about this mysterious Goat Lady who is her aunt and was killed by her next door neighbor. There is a story here and Nora wants to find out all about Amalia Bondurant.
