Murder at Barclay Meadow by Wendy Sand Eckel introduces Rosalie Hart who has just moved into her old family home near Cardigan, Maryland.  While exploring the grounds she finds a body that is tangled along the shore of the Cardigan river.  The body is that of a local college student and Rosalie is troubled to know the young woman was found on her property.  When the death is ruled a suicide Rosalie feels that can't be the whole story and vows to find the killer herself.

Killing Trail by Margaret Mizushima is set in Colorado.  Deputy Mattie Cobb has a new partner.  His name is Robo and he is a German Shepherd.  When they are called out to a remote site Robo goes on full alert and leads Mattie to an injured dog that is guarding a body that is partially buried.  What is going on in their peaceful community?  Is this death drug related?  This is the first in a new mystery series that has lots of information on how a K-9 unit functions.

Natchez Burning by Greg Iles looks at how well one can know family.  When Natchez mayor Penn Cage is contacted by the local DA because a man has accused Penn's father Dr. Tom Cage of murdering his mother, Penn's world is rocked.  The more he looks into the circumstances the more he is pulled into events that happened back in the tumultuous 1960s.  A look at race relations in the deep south through the decades.
