The Little Way of Ruthie Leming: a Southern Girl, a Small Town and the Secret of a Good Life by Rod Dreher.  Dreher shares the story of his younger sister Ruthie who is diagnosed at the age of 40 with a very aggressive form of lung cancer.  Dreher explores Ruthie's  relationship with her family and community as they rally around their dying friend.

Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor by Lisa Kleypas tells the story of young orphan Holly who is being cared for by her two bachelor uncles.  All she wants for Christmas is an new mom.  Will she get her Christmas wish?
