A Woman of No Importance: the untold story of the American Spy who helped win World War II by Sonia Purnell.  This biography introduces Virginia Hall the little known American spy who led many daring missions in France helping the resistance sabotage the Nazis during their occupation of France. Read about her missions and how she was never captured in spite of having a heavy wooden prosthetic leg.  Even with all her accomplishments very few knew the extent of Virginia's work until long after her death in 1982.  Purnell's meticulous research brings Virginia's story to life.  Recommended for anyone who enjoys historical works and espionage.

Lexington by Kim Wickens is about the famous racehorse Lexington.  He was born in 1850 and raced only seven times before succumbing to blindness. Lexington raced time beating the world record finishing 4 miles in 7 minutes 19 and 3/4 seconds. Learn about Lexington's life during the Civil War and learn more about horse racing in the United States and England.  Recommended for those who enjoyed Geraldine Brooks' novel Horse and any book about horses.

Irena's Children by Tilar J. Mazzeo tells the story of a brave and courageous young Polish woman named Irena Sendler.  She is the female Oskar Schindler who took staggering risks to save 2,500 children from death and deportation in the Warsaw Ghetto during Nazi occupation.  Pair this title with The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman.

The Resemblance by Lauren Nossett introduces Police Detective Marlitt Kaplan who is the first officer on site at at hit and run at a busy intersection next to the University that leaves a college student dead.  When witnesses report the driver speeding up and smiling right before hitting the young man that looked almost identical to him, the case takes a sinister twist.  For fans of authors Peter Swanson and Allison Brennan.
