A Lowcountry Christmas by Mary Alice Monroe tells the story of the McClellan family.  Taylor is back from Afghanistan but he isn't the person his family remembers.  Suffering from PTSD Taylor is difficult to be around and isn't the brother Miller remembers.  Miller would like a puppy for Christmas but money is tight with the downturn in the economy and his father losing his job.  The McClellan family needs a few miracles if they are going to have a good Christmas this year and keep their family intact.  A thought provoking heartwarming Christmas novella.

The Marsh King's Daughter by Karen Dionne tells the story of Helena daughter of a man known as the Marsh King.  The Marsh King abducted a teenage girl and kept her and the child they had together hidden in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for over 12 years before he was captured.  Now he has escaped from prison after 15 years inside and it is up to Helena to track down the man she used to idolize and return him to prison.

Stripped Bare by Shannon Baker is a mystery set in the Nebraska Sandhills.  Kate Fox's husband has been shot in an altercation where a local rancher was killed.  It wouldn't be so scary if her husband wasn't the county sheriff and it wasn't election year.  Kate needs to get to the bottom of things and find the real killer before her husband is accused of a murder he didn't commit.

The Dollhouse by Fiona Davis tells the story of Rose Lewin whose life is falling apart.  She is hoping that doing a story on Darby McLaughlin a woman who has lived at the Barbizon Hotel for Women since she came to New York in the 1950s to attend secretarial school will turn her career around.  Rose can feel a story behind the cool facade and she is going to dig until she finds out what happened to Darby as a young woman.

The Fortunate Ones by Ellen Umansky follows the lives of two women who over many decades and two continents were both deeply affected by the painting of the Bellhop by Chaim Soutine.  Rose Zimmer's family lost track of the painting when they were relocated from Vienna, Austria during World War II and Lizzie Goldstein's family has the painting stolen during a teenage party at her house.  Both women are drawn together by tragedy, the draw of the painting and the family stories that they share.

Sun, Sand, Murder by John Keyse-Walker is set in the British Virgin Islands.  Teddy Creque is the special constable on the island of Anegada where a body has just been discovered on the beach.  It looks like someone treasure hunting but when Teddy starts to investigate nothing is as it appears.
