Darktown by Thomas Mullen tells the story of police officers Lucius Boggs and Tommy Smith who are two of the eight black police officers who have just been hired by the city of Atlanta, Georgia in 1948.  They are very restricted in what they are able to do.  So, when a young black woman they say just nights before in a car with a white man is found dead in a vacant lot in Darktown, they know they will have to investigate if there is any hope of providing justice for her and her family.

A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones introduces Sunshine Vicram the newly elected sheriff of Del Sol County, New Mexico.  She is having a bad first day on the job, having almost been run over and then finding out a young woman has been kidnapped and a escaped prisoner is thought to be hiding in her county.  Can her day get any worse?  Don't ask.  A humorous series debut mystery for fans of Janet Evanovich , K.J. Larsen, Sarah Strohmeyer and Kathleen Kent.

Fateful Mornings by Tom Bouman is a mystery featuring small town police officer Henry Farrell.  A young woman has disappeared from a trailer out by Maiden's grove Lake and it is up to Henry to locate her.  Months go by and there is no sign, how can she just have vanished?
