The Care and Management of Lies by Jacqueline Winspear follows three friends at the opening of World War I.  Kezia and Thea have been friends since boarding school and, when Kezia marries Thea's brother Tom, Thea feels left out.  Now Tom is off to war and the letters fly between the three as they are all in different locations fighting very different battles.

The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh opens on Victoria's 18th birthday, her emancipation day.  Victoria who has spent her entire life in foster care is now on her own and needs to find a job.  Her one true love is flowers so she tries to find work at a local florist while trying to make sense of her life.

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown follows famous symbologist Robert Langdon as he makes a quick trip to Washington, D. C. to present a keynote speech only to find out he was brought to the nation's capitol to help a madman uncover the Mason's ancient portal. If he refuses to help, his friend and mentor Peter Solomon will die.
