Breaking the Silence by Diane Chamberlain finds Laura Brandon trying to figure out the connection between an elderly woman with Alzheimers and her father who has just passed away.  Laura's husband Ray wants her to have nothing to do with this woman and when Laura goes to visit her, Ray commits suicide in their home causing their 5-year-old daughter Emma to go mute.  What can Laura do to unravel these mysteries and get Emma to speak again?
