Ted Kooser is the former Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry and a retired professor of English at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He writes a conversational style of poetry that is accessible to the nonliterary public. His work titled Blizzard Voices is a haunting reminder of what families endured on the prairie during the blizzard on January 12, 1888 that became known as the Children's Blizzard.
