Down Range by Taylor Moore is a series opener set in the west Texas panhandle.  Garrett Kohl is an undercover DEA agent tasked with keeping a young Afghan boy named Asadi safe.  This seems pretty easy until the Kohl family runs afoul of a drug cartel and Asadi is kidnapped.  Garrett will stop at nothing to get his young charge back.  For fans of C.J.
