Think of a Number by John Verdon is a first novel. This thriller follows Dave Gurney, a retired homicide investigator as he is contacted by a college classmate who is receiving threatening letters. This story starts out a little slow, but the suspense builds and it has some great plot twists.

Tallgrass by Sandra Dallas is about a teenage girl coming of age in a small town in Colorado where a Japanese Internment camp is placed. I recommend this novel for those who enjoyed Jamie Ford's Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet.
